"AMFORHT aims at being the global hospitality and tourism education and training leading NGO in 2024", says Dr Belgat, AMFORHT President.

Recently speaking at a hoteliers meeting in Paris, Dr. Abderrahmane Belgat detailed his vision and ambitions for AMFORHT in 2024.

First, he reminded the audience that AMFORHT was created 55 years years ago (in 1969) by UN Tourism (formerly UNWTO), and as such the NGO main objectives must align with those of UN Tourism for everything related to hospitality and tourism education and training.

The Universidad del Estado de Sonora, recently welcomed the AMFORHT Secretary General, Djibril Fofana, at the invitation of the NGO Country Delegate, Antoine Chauveau, and the Sonora's President of hoteliers, Francisco Lasso.

This visit allowed an in-depth exploration of the university’s tourism and hospitality department.

IVORY COAST signs a convention with amforht to assist them in developing a sustainable tourism strategy

Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire) asked AMFORHT to assist them in developing an ambitious tourism strategy. With its "Sublime Côte d'Ivoire" ('awe-inspiring Ivory Coast') road map, the West African country wants tourism to become its third economic development pole. The aim of this plan is to develop territories beyond the capital city of Abidjan, expand population's employability at all levels, and ensure a healthy Nation's GDP growth.
Sustainability, tourism and hospitality education and training will play a major part in the project success.
This is why Mr. Siandou Fofana, Ivory Coast Minister of Tourism, asked AMFORHT (a UNWTO affiliate) to assist them in making the country one of the top 5 African tourism destinations.
