IVORY COAST signs a convention with amforht to assist them in developing a sustainable tourism strategy

Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire) asked AMFORHT to assist them in developing an ambitious tourism strategy.

With its "Sublime Côte d'Ivoire" ('awe-inspiring Ivory Coast') road map, the West African country wants tourism to become its third economic development pole.
The aim of this plan is to develop territories beyond the capital city of Abidjan, expand population's employability at all levels, and ensure a healthy Nation's GDP growth.

Sustainability, tourism and hospitality education and training will play a major part in the project success.
This is why Mr. Siandou Fofana, Ivory Coast Minister of Tourism, asked AMFORHT (a UNWTO affiliate) to assist them in making the country one of the top 5 African tourism destinations.

Announced back in November during AMFORHT International Convention at Institut Lyfe in Lyon, France, Mr Siandou Fofana and Dr Abderahman Belgat, AMFORHT President, signed a partnership agreement in Abidjan on 20th December 2023.
AMFORHT mission is to assist national and local authorities develop successful sustainable tourism strategies through quality tailor-made hospitality and tourism education and training.

During the press conference that followed the signing ceremony, Dr Belgat said:
"Let me somehow quote Mr Zurab Pololikashvili, UNWTO Secretary General, who said that through tourism and hospitality education and training, we are building a more resilient, sustainable sector, and further boost tourism's role in our economies and societies.
With this partnership agreement signed with the great country of Ivory Coast, this is exactly what we are doing :
AMFORHT will actively participate in strengthening Ivory Coast economy by ensuring that their tourism strategy will be a total success through sustainable hospitality and tourism education and training.
Sustainability, in all understandings of the word, is what will make the project a long-term undeniable success."

The partnership signing ceremony was followed by a sumptuous gala dinner showcasing Ivory Coast rich culture.
