AMFORHT to be a leading ngo in 2024

"AMFORHT aims at being the global hospitality and tourism education and training leading NGO in 2024", says Dr Belgat, AMFORHT President.

Recently speaking at a hoteliers meeting in Paris, Dr. Abderrahmane Belgat detailed his vision and ambitions for AMFORHT in 2024.

First, he reminded the audience that AMFORHT was created 55 years years ago (in 1969) by UN Tourism (formerly UNWTO), and as such the NGO main objectives must align with those of UN Tourism for everything related to hospitality and tourism education and training.

As such, AMFORHT will increase the number of partnerships all over the world, similar to the one signed recently with the government of Ivory Coast to assist them in implementing their new sustainable tourism strategy, "Sublime Côte d'Ivoire", through tourism and hospitality training and education.

Dr Belgat reminded that AMFORHT is present in 80 countries, which gives the NGO the possibility to efficiently assist any government or local authority wherever they might be.
Furthermore, with over 1,000 members, universities, schools and training centers (not counting the 200+ experts) who work hand-in-hand with AMFORHT, the association as the required knowledge and means to address any request they may get.

Dr Belgat pledged to also increase active partnerships with other NGOs such as PATA, WTACH, SKAL and more.
The idea is to benefit from the specific know-hows of these associations in order to enrich AMFORHT tailor-made solutions.

Dr Belgat also highlighted the fact that AMFORHT is modernizing its communication with a newly developed Website that recently launched (amforht.org), more presence in the media, and a lot more to increase the NGO's interaction with its members and the general public.

AMFORHT President reminded the audience that the share of the travel and tourism industry total contribution to the global gross domestic product (GDP) was 9.2% in 2023, expected to be 11.6% in 2033.
What's more, UN Tourism says that the tourism and hospitality industry is the largest industry in the world, providing employment to over 100 million people worldwide.
Such impressive figures entail governments everywhere to consider sustainable tourism as a must to increase their countries' GDP.

This why, as a conclusion, Dr Belgat stated that it is the AMFORHT responsibility to ensure the success of these new tourism strategies, wherever they might be.
